A Heavenly Journey

I admit I started this book with a certain level of skepticism. Heaven, its nature and our relationship to it is one of those topics which stirs our hopes and fears like few others. What is heaven like, where is it located, am I going there, are questions most of us have asked at some point in our lives. In this his latest book, John Hagee takes you on a well written journey in search of the Biblical heaven, or to be more precise the Bibles three heavens.

In this three part book, Mr. Hagee looks at the three heavens mentioned and implied in the Biblical record and shares his thoughts and perspective on their nature as described in the Bible.

• Part I looks at the Biblical heaven we see each night as we turn our heads to the fathomless beauty of our solar system and the galaxies beyond. Mr. Hagee describes some of the Biblical reasons why king David wrote those famous words in Psalm 19.

“The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handywork…”

• Part II looks at the so called heaven between the celestial expanse we see and dwelling place of the YHWH, the living God of the Bible. This part of the book documents the battleground of the spiritual forces of good and evil. In vivid and sobering detail Mr. Hagee shows how these spiritual battles have a profound influence on our lives. As a father of five children I especially appreciated his bold expose of the dangers which we have allowed to infiltrate our societies, homes and personal lives. Even more I appreciate the sound Biblical advice he offers to combat them.

• Part III looks at our future home and the dwelling place of YHWH our Creator. Here Mr. Hagee offers a vivid description of the “third heaven” and those who dwell there. This part of the book offers a hopeful contrast to the sin and rebellion evident under the realm of our own temporal heaven.

Even though there were a few conclusions in this book with which I disagree, I really enjoyed taking this heavenly journey through the eyes of Pastor Hagee. If you are interested in the subject of heaven I’d encourage you to pick up a copy of The Three Heavens and then open your Bible as a Berean and see if these things be so...

This Book Will Change How You Look At The Heavens Above!

I won’t lie, I was one of the people that believed what they taught in Sunday school about heaven and hell. That there is only one heaven. God lives there along with his angels, but reading The Three Heavens by John Hagee has changed my perspective. He frames God as an omnipresence over all of us. This book is almost breath taking in its description of the ultimate battle between good and evil should serve as a reminder for all of the live better as we prepare ourselves for what is to come after our deaths. The only other book that I remember as being this good or as thought provoking is “When God Stopped Keeping Score” from Author R.A. Clark. “When God Stopped Keeping Score” is the first book that ever took an intimate look at the power of God and forgiveness. It changed my life and given a chance, it will change yours. The story of the father, the son and the bible alone will change your life forever and is worth the price of the book alone.

Thrilling and Enlightening: A Must Read!

“The Three Heavens: Angels, Demons and What Lies Ahead” was a thrilling an enlightening book to read. The attention to detail and fact written between the pages was a breath of fresh air.

Hagee’s additive of written narratives as told by eye-witness accounts of great miracles only gave more proof to his words. There are three heavens. One we see when we look up in the sky, one in which belongs to another and one God rules with Jesus at his right hand ready to guide others to His salvation.
Since the fall of Lucifer, the creator of sin, there has been much strife in our world; from wars, to famine and the ever present natural disasters, such as the recent earthquake in Nepal. Jesus’ word is our salvation from what plagues us and we must learn to walk in his footsteps to be delivered into the arms of the light and good.

It is true what the author says, “Believers, however, know that there is only one Star that illuminates more than all the billions in the heavens, and that Star is Christ our Savior!”

Hagee’s newest book has done it again. He has written another piece of work worth reading time and again. It is a definite recommendation to anyone in the mood for a great read this summer.

Blind Date

Steele launches this series with a flair and dose of heat that really draws you in. I enjoyed how this story blends fiction with reality. The way in which the characters interact with one another was both engaging and appropriate for the story at hand. I liked how we got to know them as they get to know one another, while also getting a bit more insight.

Overall, this was a hot, engaging start to Steele’s trilogy. I’m excited to see what happens next.

but I loved it so much I had to read them too

This is my first book written by Nikki and it was Smokin Hot.  I found myself so lost in the story I read it all the way through. This is the first book in the series, but I loved it so much I had to read them too.  This review will only be about book one.
Ryan and Tiffany are best friends and have been since grade school.  Tiffany is trying to get over  breakup which lasted four years.  She has hid a way in her apartment for the last six months. Ryan is worried about her so he offers to set her up on a blind date.  Tiffany does not want to go but Ryan wears her down and she agrees.  Yup it was a total disaster, one that she gives Ryan down the road about.  So Ryan has set her up the next night with someone who is  friend of  friend of  friend.  This guy is supposed to be older but refined.  So Tiffany agrees to go out with Edward.  They end up at a non descript building that Edward assures her there is in fact a restaurant in there.  Once they are seated and he orders for them he wants a wine that has been reserved for another couple.  He gets into a shouting match with the waiter and Edward is livid telling the server that money can buy him anything he wants.  This should have been Tiffany's first clue something was wrong with him.  On their second date Edward invites her out to his estate to go horseback riding.  It was wonderful and romantic. 
During this time Ryan realizes he has feelings for Tiffany and he's not sure what to do about them.  He's not sure Tiffany feels the same.  Ryan and Tiffany get Into a fight, he doesn't want her to see him again.  He feels possessive and protective of her and tells her Edward is bad news.  This makes Tiffany furious and makes a third date with Edward.  When she arrives to his estate he lets her in and takes her to look at his pleasure room.  He gives her the contract and she reads it over.  Tiffany becomes uncomfortable about the things that are in the contract and asks if she can mark things out.  Edward becomes belligerent and informs her that the contract stands either she signs it or gets out.  He shares that the other girls signed it without hesitation that at the end of six months she will be free and very rich.  Tiffany thought she was the only one with Edward.  She asks him to be driven home and he refuses telling her she can walk home for all he cares.  She runs out of his house and walks down the road when Ryan happens to be driving by and he makes her get in the car.  They end up at Tiffany's apartment and Ryan leans in to kiss her.
Will what Ryan offers her be enough or is she scared that if they get into a relationship their friendship will dissolve.  This is what she truly is afraid of not having Ryan in her life when he is used to only one night stands.

Be careful of the 1st date

I just finished this book, and Wow! This man was not at all as he first seemed. When Tiff's best friend Ryan set her up on another date he thought Edward was a good man who would take care of and make his friend happy, even though he really wants her for himself. Good Read

If you have or are in the process of getting your EE, don't bother with this book. As the title says, it's a "Practical Guide" for folks that either have an interest in the topic or wish to get a bit deeper into the issues involved in wafer and semiconductor manufacturing due to job requirements etc... it is not a text book.
I would have given the book 5 stars except there are several glaring issues with this book. Given the target audience and general education level of its readers, I think some of the issues are inexcusable.
Typos and grammatical errors abound in this book. The Editor at McGraw Hill must have been asleep or been so completely uninterested in the topic that they didn't bother to check. Also, there are issues with decimal point placement throughout the book. It's sufficiently technical that someone should have bothered to verify the figures before publishing. I also would like to have seen higher quality illustrations/pictures and some logic applied to their placement.
This book is due for an update SOON. It positions die shifts to 180 nanometers as an up and coming event. Intel currently has 90 nanometer manufacturing up and running, with products entering the channel in 4Q03. Not to mention, graphics chip companies and their fab partners have made the shift to 130 nanometers. These process and manufacturing changes bring a whole host of new issues, challenges, opportunities and technologies to the mix.
All in all, this is a good book.

[A review of the 5th edition.]

Zant gives an update of his long running book on chip making. It is useful as a quick overview of the salient steps used by many fabs. The text starts with a precis of the industry's history, and, naturally, the seminal and continued significance of Moore's Law.

The wafer fabrication pages describe the predominant Chemical Vapour Deposition method. But the book also finds space for a quick explanation of Molecular Beam Epitaxy. Though the latter is still largely a research method.

Patterning and photolithography are vital processing steps. You should have a solid grasp of these ideas from the relevant chapters. Later steps of layer deposition and metallisation build up the circuit.

A lot of the text is basically unchanged from earlier editions. Since many key ideas have remained constant for decades. Rather, it has been the industry's singular success in applying those ideas to ever greater precision. Hence, the book explains why the decreasing linewidths (now in the deep submicron of around 0.18) and the move to 300mm wafers have kept us moving along Moore's Law.

The book is roughly at an undergraduate level in material science or electrical engineering. [Professionals should seek more detailed texts.]

Great starting point

This book is clear and readable -- not your average text book. I'm making a mid-life career change from architect to patent writer for the semiconductor industry. This book has been invaluable. It's not full of a lot of formulas or theory, but it will definitely help you understand what is involved in manufacturing semiconductor devices. The only things I might ask for are 1)Better Prufreeding, and B) more pictures of the process machinery; there are a few, but the author relies mainly on diagrammatic drawings to illustrate equipment. But, that said, there are a lot of drawings and they are very well drawn (unlike some of the fuzzy drawing representations in Wolf's Vol. 1 of Semiconductor Devices for the VLSI Era. The VanZant book is way cheaper, too).
